A few months back Carol Montoya posted an article on what the Afghan women are doing to help themselves. Recently there was a short video clip on a boxing studio in Kabul where women are getting together to learn to box. They are having a great time as they say getting exercise and learning to fight. Some of you may know Carol, Leni DeGoyse from Belgium and myself went to Kabul in May to train some women’s groups in self protection. Carol, who initiated all this through her black belt testing process, and then after completing it, continued the work. I was honored to accompany her on this trip to Kabul. It was an amazing and heart warming experience. I have posted a paper available for download on my experience. It is entitled Kabul Reflections.
You can also find photo albums on Everyday LIfe in Kabul and Faces of Kabul. If you look under the Self Protection Photo Gallery, you will also find photos from the trainings themselves. Enjoy! And hope to see all of you in Arizona in November!!
